The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) is a new dental benefit, beginning May 2024, that you may qualify for depending on your household income. As we are still finding out what this program looks like, this is an area where you can check to see what our involvement is in providing this plan. Beginning August 1, Surrey Place Dental will begin billing the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP). Before using this subsidy, there are some important things that our patients need to know:
The CDCP Dental Benefit Grid does not match the BCDA recommended fee guide, so all patients should expect a co-pay, even if you are 100% covered under the plan.
- As of right now, only services NOT requiring pre-authorization are allowed under the CDCP. Coverage for any services requiring pre-authorizing (ex. crowns, certain types of dentures) begins in November 2024. Orthodontics will not be covered under this plan until 2025.
- Implants and any implant-related treatments are NOT covered under the CDCP
- Although there is currently no annual billing limit on the dental plan, certain procedures have “frequency limits.” This means that there are limits on how many times per year or per lifetime a patient be billed for certain procedures. For example, this plan will only allow 4 units of scaling and root planing and 1 fluoride treatment per 12 months.
